Training with Us
The Lara Swimming Club is fortunate to have a great number of young swimmers, mixed with a dedicated senior group, who lead training by example. At Lara we are committed to developing our swimmers from development groups through to the highest levels possible.
Our coaching panel is conducting winter training sessions at the Geelong Grammar School Handbury Centre and at Waterworld. In November when we commence the summer season, training moves to the Lara Swimming Pool. All training venues are of a high standard and are the best facilities available. Sessions provide education on stroke development, stroke correction, starts, turns, finishes, fitness, race planning and preparation, strength and conditioning, nutrition, injury prevention and lots of fun on the way. The club will hold its annual training camp at Geelong Grammar as well as its annual water polo competition.
By having access to the latest technology and information available, we can continue to educate our coaches, which is very important to the club. Senior swimmers are always eager and willing to assist coaches to help develop junior swimmers and importantly this enables the club to develop a core group of young coaches who will take the club well into the future.
We look forward to the further development of our swimmers in a friendly club atmosphere, where each and every swimmer at any level can achieve his/her goals. It is my hope that, through the discipline that comes with swimming in this club, we can teach our members to not only achieve in the pool, but also apply the same discipline to achieve their goals later in life.
Kathy Plummer, Senior Coach
With the help of the coaches I progressed from adult learner to swimming competitor, including participation in Lara’s relay teams in the Country Championships. They offer a wealth of experience and expertise and are always providing new challenges.
